There are so many japanese restaurants in Jakarta, but there's no one with udon as its specialty. Most of them got sushi as their specialty or even ramen which is so in the sky-high position until now. In Here it is, the first japanese restaurant with udon as its specialty, Marugame Udon & Tempura.
The first interesting stuff here, they got a self-service concept. You'll be able to pick your own Udon, then choose the tempura you want. Other than that, there's an open kitchen here, so that you can see the cooking process. They guarantee to serve you the best of the best. Every food that's not taken for 20 minutes will be thrown away. I think there's no more doubt about the freshness. All the food here's originated from Japan, but it's made to fit our Indonesian taste.
For the udon itself, Marugame got 8 choices, range from Kamaage Udon, Kake Udon, Zaru Udon, On Tama Udon, Tori Baitang Udon, Niku Udon, Beef Curry Udon, to Mentai Kamatama Udon. If you wanna something cold, you should try Zaru Udon. For the hot one, my favorite is Mentai Kamatama Udon

For the price, I found it so reasonable and worth spending. It ranges from IDR 33k to IDR 85K. I also love the culture here. Each of us must get back the dishes to the cleaning corner after enjoy the meal. Yes, it's everything about self-service.
